Low Vision Alliance (LVA) is proud to have two different awards to recognize outstanding service to the low vision community in general and LVA specifically.

The following awards were approved by the LVA Board October 12, 2021. The Awards Committee shall include the current past president and a representative from both the membership and public relations committees.
The descriptions of the awards are listed below. Click the appropriate link to learn more specifics about each of them.
Any dues-paying, LVA member may send a letter of nomination for either award. Email your nomination(s) to cclvimembership@gmail.com prior to April 1.

The Bernice Kandarian Service Award

The Bernice Kandarian Service Award may be awarded annually to a member who has provided dedicated, long-term service to the organization with the first being awarded posthumously to Bernice Kandarian in 2022.
Criteria:
• Years of membership
• Offices and other elected leadership positions held.
• Service as chairperson or active member of a standing committee.
• Overall donation of time and talent to the organization.

Friend of LVA Award

The Friend of LVA Award may be awarded annually to an individual, organization, group, or company who has been supportive of our organization, members or programs. The Friend of LVA Award provides an opportunity to encourage further development of connections and increase awareness of the low vision community by acknowledgement of the efforts of those who support our organization’s mission and purposes.

Criteria:
• Description of the individual, organization, or business
• Supportive connection to LVA, our members, or programs
• Extraordinary service rendered or impact made.
